The Hokie™ Way Builds on Success
as 2024 Comes to a Close
Virginia Tech Student-Athletes and Charities Unite to Create Lasting Impact
[Blacksburg, VA, December 16, 2024] The Hokie Way, an independent 501(c)(3) organization leveraging the Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) of Virginia Tech student-athletes to amplify charitable causes, concludes 2024 with significant highlights that underscore its mission and community impact.
Empowering Communities Through Student-Athletes
Since its founding in 2022, The Hokie Way has partnered with nine charities, enabling over 100 student-athletes to serve as ambassadors for causes that strengthen communities and inspire change.
In 2024, Virginia Tech student-athletes from 15 varsity sports made over 100 community appearances, dedicating over 230 hours to charitable activities. Their efforts, on behalf of charitable partners, extended to social media campaigns reaching over 825,000 users and groundbreaking television and streaming ads that engaged 60% of the targeted Southwest Virginia audience.
Support the Mission Through the Stone-by-Stone Donation Match Campaign
The ongoing 2024 Stone-By-Stone Donation Match campaign is critical to The Hokie Way’s mission. Last year’s campaign drew over 700 donations from individuals across 35 states, the District of Columbia, and multiple countries, showcasing the widespread support for The Hokie Way’s initiatives.
As the year comes to a close, The Hokie Way encourages supporters to help sustain this momentum by participating in the 2024 Stone-By-Stone Donation Match campaign. Up to $200,000 in tax-deductible donations received by December 31st will be matched, and will ensure Virginia Tech student-athletes continue to drive meaningful impact.
“Every donation helps us amplify the incredible missions of our charitable partners, uniting Virginia Tech student-athletes and local communities,” said Matthew Sams, Executive Director. “We encourage Hokie Nation to join us in closing the year strong.”
