“The Hokie Way” Receives Federal 501(c)(3) Status for Charitable Giving
Requests for Partnerships currently being accepted from non-profit organizations interested in partnering with Virginia Tech student-athletes
[BLACKSBURG, VA, November 4, 2022] The Hokie Way, an independent non-profit, announced today receipt of 501(c)(3) status. With the designation, the foundation will begin soliciting donations in conjunction with partner philanthropies from across the Commonwealth of Virginia. Virginia Tech student-athletes, who wish to use their names, image, and likenesses (NIL) rights to advance the work of charitable organizations, are eligible to promote these partner causes. A group of aligned collectives, focused on NIL opportunities, will assist in building the cause-marketing partnerships.
“The establishment of The Hokie Way as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization is the start of a philanthropic ecosystem for student-athletes,” said Bridget Ryan Berman, Member of the Hokie Way Board of Directors. “Through the tax-deductible financial support of donors, we can provide resources to partner philanthropies and put to use the NIL rights of student athletes to benefit worthy causes. It epitomizes the values inherent in our school and its motto, Ut Prosim.”
The Hokie Way is currently receiving Requests for Partnerships from 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations interested in establishing a partnership. Interested organizations can visit TheHokieWay.org for more information.
